Survey Results: Metoidioplasty and Phalloplasty

December 31 2009, 11:05am

Thanks for your comments, Chris. You're correct in that this was not a scientific study by any means, and I don't think I tried to pass it off as such. When it comes to lower surgery, there's loads of misinformation about the procedures. You can see that come through in some of the survey comments. It certainly wasn't one of my goals to inform about all available procedures though. While I understand what you are saying about lower surgery not fitting neatly into phallo and meta boxes, it's important to go back and look at why I did the survey to begin with: in response to a call for phallo funding in BC, Canada. The BC gov does compartmentalize lower surgery in this manner. Lastly, I wish that I'd caught the entry by the FTM partner and removed all that person's responses, not because I find their comments offensive but because this person was not one of the target responders. In the end, this survey is not a scientific study, but I still think the comments are valid and of interest even if some of them are misinformed. They are opinions, not facts.Read more comments by Joshua Riverdale
