20 months on T

The accident has left me with residual fear, which sucks. I feel much more physically vulnerable.I never really noticed before, but the average male hairline is quite different from a woman's. Male hairline good, balding bad. If I do start losing more than I want to, I'll have to make some hard choices. I'm not keen on going on any pharms other than my T. As for saw palmetto, I've done quite a bit of research about it and have come across scientific papers that showed it as an effective way to block DHT. There are two approaches to using saw palmetto for hair loss and ideally both would be employed: internal ingestion to systemically block conversion to DHT, and topical to break down the build up of DHT in the hair follicles. I don't want to systemically block DHT since I want its virilization effects. So, I opted for the topical treatment alone. And it seemed to work, quite immediately I'll add. I may have stopped the treatment too soon after finishing the DHT trial, or the hair loss could just be part of the natural progression of changes (in which case I'd need to use saw palmetto longer term, and I'm not too keen on that.)I looked at the article you referenced, and agree that herbs can be very powerful and can have detrimental effects. There's a perception out there that herbs are harmless and that's just not true. I have a good friend who was hospitalized with a serious liver problem caused by herbs prescribed by a TCM doc. As for the article's claims about saw palmetto and hair loss specifically, hair loss prevention is such a HUGE money maker online, so you're going to find all kinds of contradicting evidence and claims. There are scientific papers that "prove" both sides. I read as much as I can, but I also pay close attention to anecdotal reports, which are a little less prone to bias. What was it that Homer Simpson says about stats?Aw, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. Forfty percent of all people know that. Read more comments by Joshua Riverdale
